Pogodno “Uśmiech się”

Pogodno is a Polish music band formed in 1996 in Szczecin. The name comes from Pogodno, a district in Szczecin. Initially, the band operated as a three-member group: Jacek Szymkiewicz, Adam Sołtysik, and Tomek Kubik. This lineup changed after recording their first album, which was released by Tymon Tymański’s label, Biodro Records.

The group has frequently changed its lineup and place of creation. The only constant member throughout the band’s history has been Jacek Szymkiewicz, a musician from Choszczno. After the initial phase and the debut album by the trio Szymkiewicz/Kubik/Sołtysik, followed by “Sejtenik Miuzik & Romantik Loff” (Szymkiewicz/Pfeiff/Kozłowski/Macuk) released by Noff Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment Poland, the band started creating music in Mikołów in Upper Silesia. At that time, Pogodno formed its “big band”: Jacek Szymkiewicz (guitar and vocals), Ania Brachaczek (vocals), Hrabia Fochmann (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Michał Pfeiff (guitar), Jarosław Kozłowski (drums), and Darek Sprawka and others in the brass section. This collaboration resulted in the album “Pogodno gra Fochmanna – Hajle Silesia” along with the band’s biggest hit – “Orkiestra”. In this lineup, they also released the albums “Tequila” and “Pielgrzymka psów”.

In 2006, the band created music and appeared in the TV series “Królowie Śródmieścia” aired on TVP1. Simultaneously, Ania Brachaczek and Hrabia Fochmann left the band to form BiFF. Without these artists, the band recorded the album “Opherafolia” with Marcin Macuk. A year later, the rhythm section, consisting of Jarosław Kozłowski and Michał Pfeiff, left the band. At that point, Jacek Szymkiewicz faced the decision of ending the band’s activities. Despite the problems, the band continued – Szymkiewicz formed a new lineup (Jacek Szymkiewicz – guitar, vocals; Damian Pielka – bass, Marcin “Dzidzia” Zabrocki – keyboards, saxophone, vocals; Paweł Osicki – drums, vocals), resulting in the album “Wasza Wspaniałość”, which was later nominated for a Fryderyk award.

In 2011, the band, with a changed lineup again (Damian Pielka left, replaced by Piotr “Bajzel” Piasecki, and “Dzidzia” also left), released a new album titled “Plemnik” in a limited edition of 777 copies.

In April 2014, the band resumed activities with its old lineup (Szymkiewicz, Pfeiff, Kozłowski, Macuk, Fochmann), performing a concert in Warsaw’s Hybrydy.

In December 2016, the band announced a tour for January and February 2017 with the lineup of Szymkiewicz, Pfeiff, Kozłowski, and Macuk, along with a new album “Sokiści chcą miłości”.

On April 11, 2022, the band’s leader Jacek “Budyń” Szymkiewicz passed away.
