Lessdress (initially known as Ferrum) is a Polish rock band specializing in glam metal, active from 1984 to 1995, with reunions in 1997 and from 2007 onward. Founded in Warsaw by Paweł Nowakowski, a former vocalist of the American band Steel Knickers, Lessdress has established a notable presence in the Polish rock scene. The band operated as Ferrum until 1989, performing at significant events such as the Jarocin Festival and the inaugural Metalmania Festival in 1986.
The original lineup included:
– Paweł Nowakowski (vocals and guitar)
– Krzysztof Faliński (guitar)
– Sławomir Onacik (bass guitar)
– Arkadiusz Nosarzewski (drums)
– Radosław Marcinkowski (keyboards)
In 1990, they recorded their debut album, Dumblondes, which faced financial and legal issues with its original publisher, Polskie Nagrania, leading to its release three years later under Eska Records. The album drew influences from bands like Def Leppard, Van Halen, and Mötley Crüe. Their second album, Love Industry, was recorded in 1991 but released in 1994 through Schubert Music.
Both albums received positive critical acclaim. The band disbanded in 1995 but reunited in 1997. Unfortunately, the death of bassist Sławomir Onacik led to another hiatus in 1999. Lessdress reformed again with a new lineup consisting of Nowakowski, Faliński, Marcin Kurbiel, and Nosarzewski, releasing the album Sugarfree in 2007, which marked a departure from their earlier style.
In 2014, they released Fools Die Young, which returned to the themes and styles of their earlier works.
