Kortez “Z imbirem”

Kortez, born Łukasz Federkiewicz on June 24, 1989, in Krosno, is a Polish musician, composer, vocalist, guitarist, pianist, and trombonist.

He has a musical education, learning to play the piano and trombone at the music school in Krosno. Inspired by Clarence Greenwood, he began learning to play the guitar in 2013. He obtained higher education at the University of Rzeszów, majoring in “Artistic Education in Music.”

In December 2013, he unsuccessfully auditioned for the pre-casting of the Polsat program “Must Be the Music. Tylko muzyka” in Rzeszów. He was spotted by Paweł Jóźwicki, the head of the Jazzboy Records label. In April 2014, he signed a record deal and started working with producer and musician Olek Świerkot. The resulting songs were presented to several journalists in January 2015, including Piotr Stelmach, who started playing the song “Zostań” on Radio Trojka. In March 2015, he released his first EP titled “Jazzboy Session EP,” featuring the songs “Zostań,” “Joe,” and “Co myślisz?”. The songs “Zostań” and “Od dawna już wiem” made it to the Trojka Hit List. On September 25, 2015, he released his debut studio album “Bumerang,” which brought him four nominations for the Fryderyk Awards and the Mateusz music award from Radio Trojka.

In 2016, he debuted at the Opole Festival with concerts: Debiuty (“Od dawna już wiem”), Superjedynki (“Dla mamy”), and Scena alternatywna. On November 3, 2017, he released his second album titled “Mój dom,” followed by a mini-album titled “Dobry moment” on January 16, 2018, which complemented the second album. The song “Dobry moment” received a Fryderyk Award for Song of the Year.

In 2018, together with Dawid Podsiadło and Krzysztof Zalewski, he recorded the single “Początek,” promoting the ninth Męskie Granie tour, awarded the Fryderyk 2019 for Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year. In September 2018, his third album “Mini dom” was released, promoted, among others, by the song “Stare drzewa,” which also appeared on the soundtrack to the film “Kamerdyner,” awarded the Fryderyk 2019 for Illustrative Music.

Kortez’s second double live album titled “Sold Out 2019/2020” was released on June 24, 2020, by Jazzboy Records.
