Iowa Super Soccer “The River”

Iowa Super Soccer is a Polish alternative music band, formed in 2004 in Mysłowice. The band’s sound is primarily influenced by genres such as sadcore and indie-pop. Initially, their EPs were self-released, showcasing their dedication and grassroots approach to their music career.

Their debut album, “Lullabies to keep your eyes closed,” released by Gusstaff Records, was widely acclaimed and declared by many as the album of the year in 2008. Tracks like “The River” and “Cold” gained airplay on prominent radio stations across Poland, including Radio Trójka and others in cities like Katowice, Gdańsk, Łódź, and Kraków, as well as Antyradio, Roxy, and Radio Em.

In 2010, Iowa Super Soccer released their second album, “Stories Without Happy Endings,” featuring 12 melodic compositions that once again received considerable acclaim from both listeners and the media.

Iowa Super Soccer has performed extensively, both domestically and internationally. They have graced stages at major Polish festivals such as Opener, Globaltica, Ars Cameralis, Przystanek Woodstock, Alter fest, and OFF Festival in the years 2006, 2009, and 2018. They won the European Revelation category at the Spanish Pop Art festival in 2008-2009, which led to a performance in Cáceres, Spain. The band has also embarked on two concert tours in China, appearing at the Snow Mountain Festival among others, and performed in Ukraine, Germany, and the Czech Republic. They have shared the stage with notable acts like Myslovitz, John Porter, Rykarda Parasol (US), Immanu El (SWE), and legends like Mark Kozelek (US) of Red House Painters.

Their music has been featured on prestigious compilations such as “Alternative trippin vol. 1,” Agnieszka Szydłowska’s “Program alternatywny,” “OFFsesje vol. 1” by Polskie Radio, “Artur Rojek Selection.pl Off Festival,” and Spain’s “Pop Nation,” highlighting their significant impact and recognition within the alternative music scene.
