HOUK “Transmission Into Your Heart”
In the history of Polish rock, there are a few monumental albums that have not only stood the test of time but have also gained new layers of meaning. One of them is undoubtedly “Transmission Into Your Heart” by Houk – a record which, in 1994, proved that Polish guitar music could sound international, uncompromising, and at the same time carry a profound spiritual message.
Released on February 21, 1994, the album is a complete work – brimming with energy, honesty, and raw beauty, which to this day reaches from the ear straight into the heart.
Formed in 1988 on the ashes of the legendary Deuter, Houk truly began its journey with the arrival of charismatic frontman Darek “Maleo” Malejonek. Often described as a Polish supergroup, the band recorded Transmission Into Your Heart with a lineup that went down in the history of Polish rock:
- Dariusz “Maleo” Malejonek – vocals, guitar, author of lyrics and music
- Robert “Sadek” Sadowski – guitar, delivering powerful riffs and bluesy flourishes
- Tadeusz Kaczorowski – bass guitar
- Piotr “Fala” Falkowski – drums
The album also features a guest appearance by Marek “Zefir” Wójcicki, who performed a spectacular guitar solo in the title track.
The recording sessions took place in November 1993 at Studio S-4 in Warsaw. The entire project was overseen by Leszek Kamiński, whose production gave the record a world-class sound – powerful, spacious, and crystal clear.

Why?… (Dancing In The Lights)
An explosion of guitar riffs and fierce vocals. Malejonek asks “Why?”, warning against false spiritual leaders. The track is a manifesto against manipulation and the loss of the soul.
Zyyma

No-One
Raw energy with contrasting verses. The lyrics address illusion and loneliness, with the refrain “Set me free” turning into a fervent prayer.
Natural Way
A protest against indifference to ecology, poverty, and injustice. Malejonek asks piercing questions about the “dying Earth.” A song about the true value of the soul over money.
God Bless
Tribal rhythms, jazzy chords, and a spiritual message. The refrain “God bless the people who love the truth” becomes a manifesto of love for truth.

A reggae-driven call for “spiritual revolution.” A song about hope in times of crisis.

A catchy, slightly funky track with the refrain “livin’ in the jungle.” The world is portrayed as a jungle of manipulation and false guides – perhaps even more relevant today.
Pain
A six-minute bluesy meditation on pain, loneliness, and hope. The track rolls forward like a steamroller. The lyrics speak of the Nazarene who comes to break chains.

A dramatic protest against the system that imprisons those who refuse to fight its wars.
No Time To Lose
A grunge-inspired hymn about the “time of salvation.” A powerful call to act here and now.
Techno
A tongue-in-cheek title and a dance-like pulse, but the lyrics are a prayerful surrender of the soul to God in exchange for freedom from fear.
Nobody’s Child
A heartbreaking song about lonely street children. The simple lyrics strike with sincerity: “lookin’ for a daddy and somethin’ to eat.”
Soul Ammunition
A return to Houk’s roots. Stadium chants and spoken-word passages make this track a manifesto of energy and strength.
Transmission Into Your Heart
The culmination and a generational anthem. A ballad with a philosophical text about the power of love, stronger than death and the sun itself. Marek “Zefir” Wójcicki’s solo is one of the most unforgettable moments in the history of Polish rock. The music video for this track featured fragments of Finnish director Mika Kaurismäki’s film Last Border.

W historii polskiego rocka jest kilka albumów-monumentów, które po latach nie tylko się nie zestarzały, ale nabrały nowych znaczeń. Jednym z nich jest bez wątpienia „Transmission Into Your Heart” zespołu Houk – płyta, która w 1994 roku udowodniła, że polska muzyka gitarowa może brzmieć światowo, bezkompromisowo i jednocześnie nieść duchowe przesłanie.
Wydany 21 lutego 1994 roku album to dzieło kompletne, kipiące energią, szczerością i chropowatym pięknem, które po dziś dzień trafia przez ucho do serca.
Houk, uformowany w 1988 roku na zgliszczach legendarnego Deutera, swój właściwy początek datuje na moment dołączenia charyzmatycznego wokalisty Darka „Maleo” Malejonka. Zespół, często określany mianem supergrupy, nagrał Transmission Into Your Heart w składzie, który przeszedł do historii polskiego rocka:
